Internet Banking

Securing activities such as Internet Banking and other financial systems that we access as part of both our personal and business lives is critical. The convenience of Internet banking has made it a big target for CyberCriminals. If criminals can't get hold of your Internet Banking username and password, then they'll attempt to socially manipulate you into revealing answers to your account recovery questions, or at a push, try and convince you their transfer request is legitimate.

Take care with your Internet banking by always double checking details, take care to not be watched while you’re entering your password and checking bank account details when paying invoices - even if you've saved a contact.

Double check the details before you hit send on that Internet payment. If in doubt, contact the person you are paying via phone or some method outside of the details included on the invoice you’re using to create the payment. Always be suspicious about anything that looks out of the ordinary, because Internet banking is a a very common target for cybersecurity hacks.

If your Internet banking site or app has the option to use an extra authentication system (Multi Factor Authentication) or dual signatures for transactions, it's worth enabling this to act as an extra layer of protection.
