Introduction

Data is the center of CyberSecurity and CyberSecurity is about protecting that data to ensure it remains Confidential, Retains Integrity and is Accessible. 

One of the consequences of a failure in CyberSecurity is a Data Breach. This is where private data becomes publicly accessible. Unfortunately we’ve become accustomed to hearing about data breaches, for example, the Optus breach in 2022, Medibank in 2023 or Qantas in 2024 and 2025.

This course will explain what each of these mean and what happens when each fails. Although there is scope for this topic to become quite technical, we’re going to keep it as user-friendly as possible.
